Tolerate
|
Here are the lyrics to one of the most beautiful songs I know. Noth only is the music phenominal, but the lyrics just really touched me. Its by a new Norwegian collaboration called National Bank, anyone who has the possiblitiy should really check out this band!
Tolerate
If what you believe in is so sacred
That you can not love me anymore
Then I'm sorry, that your wisdom
Won't prepare you for what's in store
Because this buibble, that you call home
Will when the winds of change pick-up
Burst with a venegance, and a fury
And disarray your every stone
You've got to tolerate
And not just annihilate
Facts of life and facts of fate
And I say this not from hate;
That your hour now is late
So shape up for your own sake!
That your hour now is late
So shape up for your own sake!
Your own sake!
And your ideals, I find amusing
And on most I can agree
In fact we are close to each other
But eye to eye we can not see
And I'm not perfect, I admit it
I can admit to being wrong
But as a friend, not as a brother
To you I dedicate this song
You've got to tolerate
And not just annihilate
Facts of life and facts of fate
And I say this not from hate;
That your hour now is late
So shape up for your own sake!
That your hour now is late
So shape up for your own sake!
Your own sake!

summer vacation is over:(
|
Hey everyone
Long time since my last update. It's been a busy vacation, but of course loads of fun.
Now i'm home again and i start school in a week. Looking forward to it actually, cuz i'm starting a new school, and hopefully i'm accepted to the international class(we haven't been told who got in yet, might not get to know before school starts)
My first school day is also the day of my first meeting with the national board of Plan. I'm very nervous, but also anxious to get started.
THis weekend i attended a seminar on Sierra Leone arranged by my NGO. This year teens from all over the country will work in money for one of Plan's school projects for teens in Sierra Leone in a yearly student campaigne called Operation Dayswork. I'.ve said yes to do a presentation on the NGO and the project to one of their regional groups. Looking really forward, esspecially since this is the first year i will take part in the campaigne myself(my former school wasn't a part of it, but about half of our middle schools and high schools are)
Well, thats it for now. Have some reading to do. Hope you had a nice week!:)

Finally summer!!
|
Hey again everyone
Finally my summervacation has started. Finished up school on thursday, so now i have about 8 weeks to do exactly what i want. isn't it great!
The coolest thing is that im traveling back to houston, TX., where i lived three years ago and i'm gonna meet my old friends. Just 8 days left!!!
I'm also spending some time working with the CAB this summer. We might have a stand on a huge football turnement for young people from different countries called Norway Cup. It is sponsing one of our NGOs projects in Sierra Leone. There is also gonna be a match between Manchester United and the Oslo team, which the money is going to the same project.
Also we a participating in a Aids confrence in Finland in september where we are gonig to have a 15 minute presentation for about fifty school children. WE are not sure what we are gonna do yet, but there have been some idees up like making a video about what youth in Norway know about aids.
So all in all, its gonna be a actionpacked, funfilled holiday, but of course there is gonna be time to be lazy. Actully right now is as good as any time...
Talk to you soon:)

Hello
|
First update.
Was just in Oslo, Norway's capital for a meeting with the childrens advisory board. Our members our spread around the country, and since Plan norway have their offices in Oslo we meet there.
This was our fourth meeting and it ended up being very hectic. One of the first things we did was to elect one of our members to represent us in the head board. We all had to present a speech to promote ourself, something i dont always feel comfortable doing:( but it all went, and i was elected. its is gonig to be very interesting, because this in one of the first times a youth is put into thehead board of and organisation here in Norway. It is also a bit intimidating because all the other members are well profiled people here in Norway(bishop, corruptionhunter, ex-minister, and so on) in the age between 50 and 60.
Well other then that our meeting was full of interveiwas. we met the minister of developement and the child- and family affairs ministry and asked the about he CRC being more implemeted in school, and youth participation in issues involving them. The first meeting went well, but on the last mentioned one, we felt like we weren't being proparly listened to. at the end ofour meeting they asked us if we had any suggestions, but we had been giving them loads throughout the whole hour,. it was very frustrating.
Well, thats it for now. My summervacation starts on thursday, adn im finally getting a well-deserved break.
Later:)
